Joseph’s brothers had hidden their sin for 22 years and were suffering the consequences of their continual deceit and lying. Now God decides to act in his sovereignty to save them, reunite a family and also fulfill his covenant promises so that many would  be saved. What we learn is that God will act in severity and grace to activate a seared conscience that is persisting in sin bringing it to repentance and freedom from the ongoing consequences of sin.
